DIU Google Workspace Policy

Google Workspace Storage Limits for Students, Alumni, Faculty and Administrative Users

Due to licensing changes imposed by Google, Google Workspace for Education accounts stopped offering unlimited storage in late 2022. Consequently, Daffodil International University (DIU) has introduced role-based storage limits to ensure sustainable, secure and uninterrupted Google Workspace email and storage services for the University community.

As per the updated policy of DIU, the following storage limits apply to DIU Google Workspace accounts:

User category Storage limit Service availability
Faculty members 15 GB Google Workspace services according to DIU policy
Administrative employees 5 GB Google Workspace services according to DIU policy
Current students 5 GB Google Workspace services according to DIU policy
Alumni/former students 1 GB Only Institutional email service; other services may be restricted

All DIU Google Workspace users are requested to regularly review and manage their storage. Users should:

  • Check storage usage at Google Drive Storage.
  • Delete unnecessary emails, particularly messages with large attachments.
  • Empty Gmail Trash and Spam after reviewing their contents.
  • Remove duplicate, outdated and unnecessary files from Google Drive.
  • Transfer personal files to personal storage.
  • Keep official University information only in DIU-approved systems.
  • Maintain storage usage below the quota assigned to their user category.

Users who exceed their assigned quota may experience restrictions on uploading files, creating documents, or sending and receiving email, depending on Google’s applicable service controls.

The cooperation of all students, alumni, faculty members and administrative employees is essential to ensure the responsible use of DIU’s limited pooled storage and the uninterrupted availability of institutional email services.
